Bucknell Cross Country Participates In NCAA Pre-Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Bucknell University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Asics/Pacesetter Pre-National Saturday afternoon. The men's Blue Team finished 30th out of a total of 35 teams, while the women's Blue Team completed the meet 35th out of 38 teams.
On the 8k course, Bryan Johnston placed 98th at the meet with a time of 25:25 for the Blue Team. Johnston crossed the line first for the Bison, followed by Lou Palma (148th, 25:51) and Nick Mousetis (164th, 26:00). Eric Furst finished for the Bison fourth, placing 180th and clocking in at 26:07, while Kevin Brown followed placing 197th at 26:24. Other Bucknell participants in the Blue Team meet included Wes Reinhardt (210th, 26:37) and Dan Loundsbury (213th, 26:39).
Members of the men's cross country team competed in the Open Team meet. Stephen Schaefer placed 34th with a time of 25:59, while crossing the line first for the Bison. Doug Creveling (58th, 26:19) and William Duffy (81st, 26:36) followed Schaefer for the Bison. Capturing fourth for Bucknell, Kevin Walsh crossed at 26:54 for a 97th overall finish, while marking fifth was Jesse Graytock (109th, 27:09). The Open Team placed 16th out of a total of 24 teams.
For the women's Blue Team, Theresa Dennis captured 56th with a time of 21:40 on the 6k course. Dennis was the first Bison to cross the line. Alison Cole (175th, 22:50) and Jamie Gow (187th, 22:59) placed second and third for Bucknell. Finishing in the top fiver for the Orange and Blue included, Rachel Tutmaher (199th, 23:08) and Katie Pfeifer (204th, 23:10). Other Bison runners in the Blue Team meet included Nicki Piper (221st, 23:21) and Kayla Halloran (234th, 23:30).
The women's Open Team meet leader for the Bison was Lauren Kinsey, who place 87th with a 23:31 finish. Julie Jakaboski (101st, 23:41) and Jennifer Malcolm (137th, 24:13) captured second and third for the Orange and Blue. Closing up the top five BU runners included, Megan Schollenberger (141st, 24:16) and Nicole Lynn (168th, 25:05). The women's Open Team placed 28th out of a total 29 teams.
Bucknell will return to action in two weeks on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they participate in the Patriot League Championships in West Point, N.Y.
