Bucknell Cross Country Participates In Lafayette Invitational

EASTON, Pa. - The Bucknell University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Lafayette Invitational Saturday afternoon. The men's team finished eighth out of a total of 12 teams, while the women completed the meet ninth out of 12 teams.
The men's team had 14 members participate in the Lafayette Invitational. Junior Eric Heikkila finished first for the Bison and 52nd at the meet with a time of 27:03.72 on the 8k course. Marcus Jones (58th, 27:07.89) and Sean McCarthy (71st, 27:18.83) crossed the line second and third for Bucknell. Other Bucknell members so finished the course under 28 minutes includes, Matias Palaveceno (73rd, 27:22.00), Garfield Mathis (77th, 27:26.19), Kevin Fortkiewicz (83rd, 27:36.00) and Ryan Delaney (92nd, 27:52.00).
On the 6k course, the women's cross country team entered eight Bison members. Jennifer O'Conner crossed the line first for Bucknell and recorded 45th at the meet with a time of 22:41.71. Jennifer Marsh (50th, 22:48.00) and Kerryann Branker (51st, 22:50.51) followed O'Conner in the Bison scoring.
Bucknell will return to action in two weeks on Saturday, Nov. 2, when they participate in the Patriot League Championships.
