Bison Volleyball Defeats Colgate, 3-1

HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Bucknell Volleyball team started the weekend off with a 3-1 victory over Patriot League opponent, Colgate, Friday evening. The Bison offense was again led by senior Melanie Ghiz, who tallied a career match high 24 kills.
Bucknell started the night falling in the first game, 30-26. In game two, the Bison grabbed a 30-24 win over the Raiders. Bucknell came out after the intermission, achieving 30-27 in game three. To close the night, the Orange and Blue snatched a 30-20 win to clinch the match.
The Bison ended the night marking many career highs during the four-game match. Jennifer Wrigley marked 15 kills and a total of 12 digs, which included her 1,000-career dig. Wrigley is the fourth Bison to accomplish the thousand mark in the Bucknell record book. Junior Breean Trapasso tallied a career high 61 assists in a four-game match. Ghiz finished the night with a .367 hitting percentage and 24 kills, a career four-game match high.
Brandi Trapasso, who marked 16 kills and added 18 digs for the Bison, assisted the offense. Freshman Chelsea Anderson tallied 15 digs against Colgate to assist the Bucknell defense.
The Bison improve to an 11-8 overall record and 5-2 in the Patriot League. Bucknell will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. for a non-league tilt with LeMoyne College on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m.
