EMMITSBURG, Md. - Starting post players Brian Werner and Boakai Lalugba combined for 31 points and 18 rebounds to lead Bucknell to its second straight victory, 58-46 over Mount St. Mary's at Knott Arena Wednesday evening.
The Bison used an early 17-0 run and tough defense to claim their first road victory of the season after six losses. Bucknell (4-8) held the Mount to 31.3 percent shooting from the floor and outrebounded the hosts 39-29. The 46 points allowed were the fewest for the Bison since a 69-44 win over Holy Cross 55 games ago.

Bucknell trailed 4-2 in the game's early minutes before exploding for 17 straight points over a span of 6:49 to grab a commanding 19-4 lead. Five different Bison scored during the run, with Matt Quinn's 3-pointer igniting the surge and providing the final lead change of the night at 5-4 just 1:43 into the contest. Lalugba added six points and Werner four during the outburst, while Ben Slater capped it with a put-back at the1:26 mark.
Mount St. Mary's would not go away, however, pulling within 30-20 at halftime before using a 15-6 run to claw back to 40-35 with 9:03 left in the second half. The Mount could get no closer, as Quinn's driving layup kicked off a 6-0 run that pushed the lead back to double digits.
The Bison, who struggled from the free-throw line in their most recent win over Hofstra, went 7-for-8 from the stripe in the last 1:10 to seal the win.
Werner logged season-highs 16 points and nine rebounds, while Lalugba also just missed a double-double with 15 points and nine boards. Dan Blankenship dished a season-high seven assists.
Pat Atangana led Mount St. Mary's with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Michael Bajornas added 10 points off the bench. Leading scorer Jerry Lloyd was held to just two points on 1-for-11 shooting from the field.
Bucknell was whistled for only six fouls in the game and sent Mount St. Mary's to the free-throw line only three times all night.
