Ferrell Wins Subway Athlete of the Month Award in Cross Country

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Kristin Ferrell has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of September in cross country.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, Sept. 10. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of September, as selected by their respective coaches, were senior Erin Plasteras in field hockey, senior Shannon Walker in volleyball , junior Jess Hetrich in golf and sophomore Savannah Rennels in soccer.
Ferrell helped the Bison defeat Syracuse and Siena in their season-opening meet, the first annual Gulden Duals, Saturday at Bucknell. Ferrrell finished the 3.1 mile race in fourth place out of 41 competitors in 19:41.00.
The cross country teams continue their 2001 schedule this Saturday at Penn State's Spiked Shoe Invitational.
