LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior cross country runner Becki Marshall has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Runner of the Week for the week ending Sept. 9, the conference announced this afternoon.
Marshall opened the 2001 season in style on Saturday, placing first out of 42 competitors in 18:59.49 to win the first annual "Gulden Duals" cross country meet. The two-time defending Patriot League cross country champion held off a strong effort from Syracuse's Leah Folmsbee, who finished a close second to Marshall in 19:01.43. Marshall's victory led Bucknell to wins over Syracuse (19-41) and Siena (18-43).
The Bison, who have won the Patriot League title in each of the last three seasons, will pick up their schedule on Saturday when they travel to Penn State University for the Spiked Shoe Invitational. Races are scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.
