Bucknell Baseball Team Wins Elimination Game at Patriot League Championship Tournament

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Second-seeded Bucknell accomplished goal number one with a seventh inning surge to defeat third-seeded Holy Cross, 10-4, and advance the to the three-game final series versus Navy in the 2001 Patriot League Baseball Tournament.
Bucknell's Russ Lindberg (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) belted his ninth homer of the season in the seventh to open up a deadlocked 2-2 contest. The Bison recorded eight runs in that inning to earn the victory. Holy Cross began to fight back with two runs in the top of the eighth, but Bucknell's right-handed freshman pitcher Kevin Miller (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) held on for the win.
Holy Cross fell to 19-23 with the loss while the win improves Bucknell's record to 29-17. Bucknell will take on Navy in a best-of-three game series, beginning at 3:45 p.m. today. The winner will advance to the NCAA Regionals.
