The Bison men posted one first-place finish and several top-ten's to post a team total of 40 points. The Bucknell women had two first-place showings and two second-place showings to finish with 63 points, only one point behind the fourth place team Towson.
Recording the only first place finish of the meet for the men's team was sophomore Matias Palavecino (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) in the 1500-meter run. Only finishing .27 ahead of the second-place finisher, Palavecino ran the 1500-meter race in 4:02.13.
Freshman Erin Lee (Olean, N.Y./Olean) and sophomore Edwina Bourn (Newburgh, N.Y./Newburgh Free Academy) were the two Bison women to earn first-place points at the meet. Lee won the discus throw with a final toss of 133' to defeat the competition by 13 inches. In one of the more difficult track events, Bourn came away with a victory in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a winning time of 63.50. Earning second place points for the Orange and Blue was freshman Jamie Lilien (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) in the 100-meter hurdles and the 4x100-meter relay team.
The Bucknell women's pole vault top-ten, which is still a work in progress due to the youthfulness of the event, saw some changes after Saturday's competition. Junior Samantha Klotz (Orange, Conn./Amity Regional) finished fifth in the event after clearing a height of 10' 6". This mark moves Klotz into the second all-time slot at BU in the pole vault. Finishing behind Klotz was freshman Shannon Benson (Visalia, Calif./Golden West) with a height of 10', which puts her in third all-time on the performance charts. Clearing a new personal best height of 9' 6" and remaining in the fourth slot all-time was freshman Abby Bouzan-Kaloustia (Orrington, Maine/Brewer).
Sophomore Charity Brady (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) ran a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.11, one hundredth of a second faster than her previous best. Brady remains in the 10th position all-time at Bucknell in the 200-meter dash.
The Bucknell men's and women's outdoor track & field teams will now prep for the upcoming Patriot League Championships being held at Holy Cross on Saturday-Sunday, May 4-5.
