The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, April 2. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. Baranik began her sophomore season on the right foot, earning a medal at the 5th Annual Erg Armageddon. She had a second-place finish in the novice open weight with a time of 7:37.7. Baranik was only one of three Bison women to medal in the event. Baranik carried her success to the Augusta-Aiken Langley Pond Regatta where she helped her Novice Women's A boat win its race with a time of 7:29.0, thirty seconds faster than its nearest competitor.
The Bison are in action again on April 21st at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River.
