Julie McLaughlin Named Subway Athlete of the Month for Women's Water Polo

Lewisburg, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Julie McLaughlin (Woodside, Calif./Menlo) has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of February in Women's Water Polo.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, April 2. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of February, as selected by their respective coaches, were sophomore Laura Maisel for tennis, junior Steph Bango for indoor track & field, senior Ashley Evans in lacrosse and junior Kelly Dugan for softball.
McLaughlin has posted some impressive numbers for the Bison this season, tallying 79 points with 45 goals and 34 assists. Due to her stellar efforts at the Bucknell Invitational where she led the Bison to a 3-0 weekend, she was named CWPA Player of the Week. In her efforts, she scored 11 goals and had 7 assists, in addition to her 11 steals. McLaughlin is one of two seniors on the squad and serves as a co-captain for the Orange and Blue.
The Bison finished their season with a school record for wins, going 18-13 overall. Bucknell ended the year with a fifth place finish at the Southern Division Championship.
