Women's Water Polo Team Sets New School Record For Wins in a Season

GROVE CITY, Pa. - The Bucknell women's water polo team picked up an 18-9 victory over Gannon at the Southern Division Championships at Grove City on Saturday, April 7. In the process, the 2001 Bucknell squad broke a school record for wins in a season, improving to 17-13 overall.
Freshman Kelly Hofstetter (Scotts Valley, Calif./Harbor) had a stellar game for the Bison, scoring a team-high six goals, while grabbing five steals, handing out one assist and recording one ejection drawn. Also turning it on offensively was senior co-captain Paige Cull (Bay City, Mich./John Glenn), scoring four goals on four shots and adding one assist. In the cage, sophomore Lindsay Chesterfield (Kingston, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) had a solid game in the cage, recording 12 saves while also handing out three assists from her position in the net.
Bucknell improves to 17-13 overall and will face Slippery Rock at 6:00 p.m. this evening in the fifth-place match.
