Bucknell Crew Competes at Lehigh Dual Regatta

Allentown, Pa. - The Bucknell crew team competed this afternoon in a dual regatta with Lehigh University on the Lehigh River. Two Orange and Blue boats managed first place finishes in the dual regatta with the Mountain Hawks.
The men's four-person varsity heavyweight boat took first-place honors at the dual regatta by beating out a quality boat from Lehigh. Pacing the boat was sophomore coxswain Nikhil Menon (Mumbai, India/St. Joseph's) and doing the rowing were sophomores Michael Brooks-Williams (Minneapolis, Minn./John F. Kennedy), Jeff Dasch (Silver Spring, Md./Albert Einstein), Aaron Casagrande (Beachwood, N.J./Toms River) and freshman Chuck Dickhart (Wayne, Pa./Episcopal Academy). Also winning for the Orange and Blue was the BU's second varsity lightweight four-person boat. Menon led this boat as well in the coxswain seat. Pulling the boat shell through the water were sophomores Trevor Gibson (Rocky River, Ohio/Rocky River), Aaron Bates (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough), Brian Albert (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and junior Jeremy Urban (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior).
Two women's boats managed second place finished in second place nearly beating tough Lehigh teams. Both the novice women's eight and the novice women's second lightweight boat had quality second place performances. The varsity women's pair of seniors Stephanie Sturm (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) and Jessica Smith (Apollo, Pa./Kiski Area) also finished second to Lehigh.
The Bucknell crew team will continue with competition on Saturday, April 21, at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
