Lewisburg, Pa. - Bucknell University's Noel Powell (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua Area) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week following his performances at the Income Tax Classic held at Christy Mathewson Stadium on April 14.
This ECAC weekly honor is one of three outdoor awards for the BU team this week.
Powell, a freshman sprinter and jumper on the team, was the top finisher for Bucknell in the long jump and crossed the line second in the 100-meter dash. His winning leap of 23' 2 ?" was more than a foot longer than his nearest competition. This jump also puts him in a tie for fourth on the Bucknell top-ten performers chart. Powell was only .01 behind his teammate, junior David Gabriel, in the 100-meter dash with a final time of 10.99.
The Bucknell men's and women's track & field teams will travel to Emmitsburg, Md. this weekend for some stiff competition at Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, April 21.
