Junior Shortstick Defensive Middie Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

Lewisburg, Pa. - Junior defensive midfielder and face-off specialist, Brian Loesch (Baldwin, N.Y./Kellenberg), was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his outstanding play in Bucknell's contest against the Colgate Red Raiders.
In Bucknell's 10-5 victory over the Red Raiders, Loesch led the Bison in ground balls for the sixth time this season with eight. He stymied the 'Gate face-off unit by winning 10 out of the 18 face-offs he was involved in. Through 11 games this season, Loesch is leading the Patriot League with a 56.7% win percentage on face-offs and is ranked 15th in Division I. More importantly, Loesch helped the Bison clinch a share of the League championship and their first automatic qualifier into the NCAA Championship Tournament in Bucknell men's lacrosse history. He is currently ranked second in the conference and 15th in the country in ground balls per game at a 6.45 clip.
Loesch and the Bison will look to extend their winning streak to two games as they host the Penn State Nittany Lions on Wednesday, April 18. The contest is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be the final home contest of the season for the men's lacrosse team.
