LEWISBURG, Pa. --- Bucknell freshman reliever Kevin Miller (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) was named the Patriot League's Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the period ending Monday, April 9, 2001.
Miller has come on strong for the Bison this season out of the pen. Last week he appeared in three of Bucknell's six games and picked up a pair of wins to improve his overall record to 3-0 on the season.
He began the week with two pre-determined innings of work in a 12-0 win over Binghamton, walking one and striking out one. In the four-game sweep at Holy Cross, Miller entered game one and worked just two-thirds of an inning, surrendering a run on two hits. His timing was right as the Bucknell offense earned him the win. In game four, he worked six strong innings in a 10-inning affair, and allowed just one run on three hits. He struck out six and did not issue a walk.
Miller has lowered his ERA to 2.67 and has picked up wins in three of his last four outings. He has allowed only two extra-base hits, and the opposition is hitting a meager .197 against him.
Bucknell is currently 20-11 overall (8-0 in the Patriot League) and will travel to Annapolis, Maryland, for a crucial four-game set with Navy this weekend. First pitch on Saturday is at 12:00 noon.
