Boston, Mass. - This past weekend the men's indoor track & field team participated in the IC4A championships held at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Mass. 16 athletes represented the men's team, but the most notable Bison performances of the entire weekend came from one individual and one relay team.
Junior David Gabriel (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) broke his own Bucknell record in the 200-meter dash as he ran a blistering time of 21.98 in his preliminary heat. His previous best in the event was a time of 22.08 in 1999. Gabriel wraps up the indoor season with this record-breaking performance and the Patriot League title in the 200-meter dash.
Setting the sixth fastest time in the 4x400-meter relay was the foursome of senior Andrew Hunsberger (Southampton, Pa./William Tennent), sophomore Brian Klotz (York, Pa./Dallastown Area), freshman Justin Crane (Allentown, Pa./Emmaus), and freshman Christopher Edwards (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area). This foursome qualified for the final heat in the relay at IC4A's and ran a time of 3:20.40. Earlier in the season, this same foursome ran the fifth fastest time in school history of 3:20.21 at the Penn State Invitational.
The men's indoor track & field team wraps up a successful 2000-01 season and will take some time off before gearing up for the outdoor season. The outdoor season officially begins on March 16-17, when the team travels to North Carolina for a meet at UNC.
