BINGHAMTON, Pa. - Bucknell's men's tennis team traveled to Binghamton, N.Y., on Saturday, March 31, falling to the Bearcats, 4-2, in non-conference action. After Binghamton had secured the victory with four singles wins, the teams chose not to play the doubles matches due to extremely cold temperatures.
The lone winners for Bucknell were senior co-captain Hayes Hopple (Wilton, Conn./Saint Georges School) and sophomore Todd Jacobs (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga). Hopple, playing at the fifth flight, defeated his opponent, 4-6, 7-5 (10-5). Jacobs won at the fourth flight for BU, coming out on top of a 6-1, 7-6 (3) decision.
Bucknell falls for just the second time this season, going to 6-2 on the year. The Bison will play their first Patriot League match of the season when they travel to Colgate on Sunday, April 1, for a 1:00 p.m. match.
