Women's Tennis Squad Captures 6-1 win at Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, Md. - The Bucknell women's tennis team traveled to Emmitsburg, Md., to take on Mount St. Mary's on Sunday, March 25. The Bison defeated The Mount, 6-1, to improve to 4-1 on the year.
The Orange and Blue took all three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. Freshmen Samantha Berthod (White Plains, N.Y./Ursuline Academy) and Alyssa Bishop (Knoxville, Tenn./Webb School of Knoxville) teamed up at first doubles to claim an 8-5 victory. Senior Beth Wurzburg (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) and junior Kristin Inglis (Huntington, N.Y./Saint Anthony) won the second doubles point, 8-6, while sophomore Laura Maisel (Princeton, N.J./Hun School) and freshman Kristen Pugno (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) paired up to win the third doubles flight, 8-1.
In singles action, sophomore Jill Wurzburg (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) earned a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, win at the first flight. Inglis picked up a 6-3, 6-1 win at the second singles spot, while Bishop defeated her opponent, 6-2, 6-1, at number four singles. Also winning for Bucknell in singles action was Maisel (6-2, 6-0) at flight five, and Beth Wurzburg at the sixth flight, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bison improve to 4-1 overall and will host Bloomsburg on Tuesday, March 27, for a 4:00 p.m. match.
