Philadelphia, Pa. - The Bucknell throwers split from the rest of the team this weekend as they competed at the Quaker Invitational on Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. After some excellent marks last weekend, two more men and one Bucknell woman marked distances good enough to move them onto the school's all-time charts.
In the men's hammer throw, Bucknell finished first and second as two individuals finished the event with personal records. Senior Ryan Stairs (Somerset, Pa./Somerset Area) garnered first place honors in the hammer throw with a toss of 187' 2". This mark not only qualifies him for the IC4A Championships at the end of the season, but also solidifies his third position on the Bucknell charts. Barely sliding into the tenth slot on the Bison charts was sophomore Adam Kaufman (Bridgeton, N.J./St. Marks) with a personal record throw of 156' 11".
In the women's weight events, freshman Erin Lee (Olean, N.Y./Olean) took third place in the women's discus throw with a mark of 136' 3". With this distance, Lee now has the seventh best discus throw in Bucknell outdoor history. Garnering a first place finish for the women weight throwers was freshman Maria Garcia (Providence, R.I./Hope) in the hammer throw. Garcia won the event with a final distance of 164' 3".
The Bucknell outdoor track & field team will unify next weekend to compete as a whole at the Susquehanna Invitational on Saturday, March 31.
