FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Bucknell softball team completed its spring trip, playing its 11th game in a four day span, with a 1-1 tie against Marist on Thursday, March 15, at the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Marist Red Foxes got on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. After two scoreless innings on both sides, Bucknell evened the score in the top of the fifth frame. Senior tri-captain Steph Morgan (Allentown, Pa./Dieruff) led off the inning with a triple to left field. One out later, freshman Jenna Fitch (Wayne, Pa./The Shipley School) came through in the clutch with an RBI single to left field. Those would be Bucknell's only two hits of the game.
The two teams battled through eight innings with neither team able to plate any more runs.
Bison sophomore Lauren Box (Malvern, Pa./Villa Marie Academy) went the distance on the mound, allowing four hits, striking out two and walking one.
Bucknell is 6-3-2 overall and will return from its spring break trip to play at Delaware on Wednesday, March 21, at 2:00 p.m.
