LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell University sophomore forward Boakai Lalugba (East Orange, N.J./Bishop Francis Essex Catholic) was named to the 2001 Patriot League Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team. The announcement was made following the league's championship game at Holy Cross last Friday afternoon.
Lalugba, who topped Bucknell and ranked second in the Patriot League in rebounding all season, led the Bison with a pair of outstanding games in the conference tournament. In the opener against Colgate, he tallied his seventh double-double of the season with a game-high 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead Bucknell to a 75-68 upset over the third-seeded Red Raiders. Lalugba followed that performance with 14 points and seven rebounds in Bucknell's 88-64 loss in the semifinal round against the Midshipmen of Navy. He is the first Bison to garner all-tournament honors since teammate Jake Ramage did so in 1999.
Joining Lalugba on the all-tournament team were MVP Josh Sankes of Holy Cross, Holy Cross' Jared Curry, and Navy's Michael Cunningham and Chris Williams. Bucknell finished the season with an overall record of 14-15.
