Women's Lacrosse Team Picked to Finish Fourth in Patriot League

LEWISBURG, PA -- Bucknell tallied 29 points to finish fourth in a preseason poll of Patriot League coaches and sports information directors' for the 2001 women's lacrosse season. The Bison finished the 2000 season with a 6-7 overall record and a conference mark of 2-3.
Colgate, the 1999 regular-season champion that has gone 14-4 in league play over the last five seasons, picked up five first-place votes and 42 points to take top spot in the poll. Lehigh, which finished fourth in the PL in each of the last four years, was awarded four first-place votes and 41 points overall in expectation of challenging for the title.
Lafayette, the defending Patriot League champion and perennial powerhouse, was picked to finish third in the league this year with 40 points and three first-place votes. The Leopards went 11-4 overall last year and posted their fourth undefeated record in Patriot League play in the last five years.
Despite returning the most league all-stars for the 2001 season, Bucknell was picked to finish fourth ahead of Holy Cross (16 pts.) and Villanova (12 pts.).

The 2001 Patriot League Championship will be held April 28-29 on the campus of the highest seed at the conclusion of regular season play.
