LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell head football coach Tom Gadd is back at work this week after undergoing successful follow-up surgery to remove scar tissue from the surface of his brain. The procedure was performed at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore last Monday, and he was released from the hospital last Wednesday evening.
Gadd reported to work in excellent spirits Monday, ready to lead his staff's recruiting efforts for the coming seasons.
Last January Gadd underwent successful surgery to have a small tumor removed, and he was back with the team in plenty of time for spring practice. This fall, Gadd led the Bison to a seventh straight winning season (6-4) and tied Bob Curtis' Bucknell all-time record for most coaching victories with 48.
"I am excited to continue preparations for next season," said Gadd. "We feel we are on the brink of winning another Patriot League championship after coming close for the last few seasons. Our staff is currently working hard on the recruiting trail and early reports have been extremely positive."
"I was very pleased to hear that Coach Gadd's follow-up procedure was successful and that he appears to be well on the road to recovery," said John Hardt, Bucknell's Director of Athletics and Recreation. "I must admit that I didn't expect to see Tom back in the office already this week, but as the saying goes, 'you just can't keep a good man down.'"
