BOSTON, Mass. -- The Bucknell women's basketball team was held to a season-low 44 points, and shot a season-low 29.1% on its way to a 67-44 loss at Harvard on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Bison fall to 5-6 overall. Harvard improves to 7-4.
Bucknell struggled against the Crimson defense, converting on only 8 of its 29 shots (27.6%) and getting forced into several attempts with the shot clock winding down. Harvard, on the other hand, connected on 15 of 28 shots (53.6%) to carry the 38-21 lead into halftime. The Bison went without scoring for over four minutes on two separate occasions, while the Crimson built its lead to as many as 20 in the half.
The Orange and Blue opened the second half scoring seven points in the first 1:30, but then the offense went dry again, going without a score for nearly five minutes. The Bison faced a 24-point deficit when they finally scored again with 13:42 left on the clock and it was too little, too late, as the Crimson maintained at least a 20-point lead the rest of the contest.
Junior Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) led Bucknell with 13 points and six rebounds. Senior Vicki Quimby (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) joined Creamer in double-figures scoring with 11 markers.
Bucknell travels to Nassau, The Bahamas for the Nassau Knockout on January 4-5, 2002. The Bison face Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne at 8:00 p.m. on January 4 in the first round.
