LEWISBURG, Pa. - After averaging better than 20 points in two games last week, Bucknell junior Boakai Lalugba (East Orange, N.J./Bishop Francis Essex Catholic H.S.) has been named the Patriot League Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Lalugba turned in perhaps the finest performance of his career on Nov. 26, when he totaled 30 points and 15 rebounds in a 71-62 overtime victory over Cornell in Davis Gymnasium. Lalugba picked a nifty time to sink his first career 3-pointer, beating the final buzzer of regulation to send the game to overtime.
This past Saturday Lalugba had 11 points, seven rebounds and three steals in the Bison's 69-45 loss at Villanova.
Lalugba currently ranks third in the Patriot League in scoring (15.2 ppg.), third in rebounding (8.2 rpg.), eighth in field goal percentage (.500), tied for eighth in steals (1.33 spg.) and seventh in blocked shots (0.83 bpg.).
The Bison (1-5) resume action this Wednesday against Albany at 7:30 p.m. in Davis Gym.
