Bucknell Falls to CCSU in Season Opener, 68-55

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Corsley Edwards scored 25 points and tied a career high with 17 rebounds to lead Central Connecticut to a 68-55 Friday over Bucknell in the first round of the Mohegan Sun Classic.
Central Connecticut (1-1) opened up a double digit lead early in the second half on a 3-pointer by Ricardo Scott and a pair of threes by Damien Battles to turn a 30-22 halftime lead to a 46-29 game.
Bryan Bailey had a career-high 31 points to keep Bucknell (0-1) within striking distance. Bailey scored 19 points in the second half and pulled Bucknell to within seven points at 59-52 with 3:11 to play, but the Bison could get no closer.
Ron Robinson had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Central. The Blue Devils will play Brown in the championship game Saturday night. The Bears beat Vermont 82-58 in the tournament's other game Friday.
Bucknell was held to 28.8 percent shooting from the field and will face Vermont in the consolation game Saturday at 6 p.m.
