LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell senior Becki Marshall has received the Subway Athlete of the Month Award for the month of October in cross country.
The award was announced at the monthly Bucknell Women's Sports Luncheon, held Monday, Oct. 8. Sponsored by Lewisburg Subway, the luncheon recognizes one outstanding student-athlete from each Bucknell women's sport in season at that time. The other winners for the month of October, as selected by their respective coaches, were junior Sonja Wettergreen in field hockey, sophomore Brandi Trapasso in volleyball, junior Molly Campbell in golf and senior Ali Chandler in soccer.
Marshall paced the Bison to a pair of outstanding team finishes over the past two weeks. A team co-captain, Marshall dominated the 53-runner field at the Lock Haven Invitational, winning the 6,000 meter race in 22:17. She crossed the finish line over a minute faster than her nearest competitor, and her performance helped the Bison beat out four other teams for the team title.
Last Saturday, Marshall placed eighth among 269 runners at the prestigious Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University. Marshall recorded a season-best time of 21:34.21 for the 6K course, and led the Bison to a second place finish in the 39-team field.
Bucknell will travel to Furman University to participate in the Pre-NCAA meet this Saturday.
