LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior men's water polo goalkeeper, David Kennedy (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day), has been named the Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Player of the Week for the week ending October 14.
Kennedy was impressive in two close games for the Bison as they made the journey to the annual Claremont Convergence in Claremont, Calif. over fall break last weekend. The co-captain made 14 saves in a disappointing 13-9 overtime loss to Brigham Young University of Hawaii to open the weekend on Friday, October 12, and followed that with a 14 save performance in a 7-5 loss to LaVerne, the nation's seventh ranked Division III program at the time. The following day, Kennedy was successful against Whittier, ranked eighth in Division III, making 12 stops in a 7-3 victory.
Despite not playing in the final game of the weekend, Kennedy currently stands eight saves shy of the Bucknell career save record of 833. Over the course of his four-year career, he has amassed 826 career saves and has at least three weeks of competition remaining.
The Bison are currently 6-9 overall and 2-2 in the CWPA Southern Division. The Orange and Blue are in action again on Friday, October 19, when they travel to Princeton for Inter-regional Competition, facing Washington and Jefferson at 7:00 p.m.
