Women's Basketball Team Defeats Stony Brook, 83-72

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell placed four players in double figures scoring, defeating visiting Stony Brook, 83-72, in non-conference women's basketball action on Wednesday, January 31.
Sophomores Molly Creamer (Mendham, N.J./West Morris Mendham) and Kate Franks (Philipsburg, Pa./Philipsburg-Osceola) combined to go 10-for-11 from the field in the first half, and the Bison shot 66.7% in the frame as a team in building a 40-26 halftime advantage.
The Bison enjoyed a 17-point lead (69-52) with just over seven minutes left in the contest, but the Seawolves outscored Bucknell 17-9 over the next four and a half minutes to get within nine with 2:44 left to play. Stony Brook hit three of its school record 11 three-pointers during the run. The Seawolves Jessica Burch had two of her career-high four during the stretch.
The Bison staged a 5-0 run over the next two minutes to push their lead back to 14, 83-69, before a Stony Brook three-pointer with 23 ticks left on the clock created the final deficit.
Creamer finished with a game-high 24 points and eight assists, while Franks ended with a season-high 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Junior Vicki Quimby (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) joined them in double-figures, scoring 17 points and grabbing a season-high 14 rebounds on the way to her sixth double double of the season. The forward also handed out a career-best six assists and collected a season-high six steals. Junior Kate Rounsley (Lock Haven, Pa./Lock Haven) was Bucknell's fourth player in double figures with 10 points.
Bucknell improves to 15-5 overall, matching its win total from a year ago, and hosts Navy for a Patriot League matchup at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3. Stony Brook falls to 13-10 on the season.
