Senior Jumper Honored With Weekly ECAC Award

LEWISBURG, PA - Bucknell University's James Hollins (Feeding Hills, Mass./Northfield-Mt. Hermon School) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week following his performances at a meet with Delaware, Towson, Lock Haven, Temple, St. Francis (Pa.), Wagner and Canisius.
This ECAC weekly honor is already the seventh for Bucknell's track team this season. Also being honored by the ECAC this week was Latonya McSwain of the BU women's track & field team.
Hollins, a senior jumper on the men's track team was a double winner for the Bison as he was victorious in both the long jump and the triple jump. In the long jump, Hollins reached a distance of 23' 2 ?", defeating his nearest competition by nearly nine inches. He also hop, skipped, and jumped his way to a victory in the triple jump with a leap of 47' 9". Hollins' mark in the triple jump tied his career best which is currently the fourth best distance on the BU all-time performers charts.
The Bucknell men's and women's track & field teams will split squads this weekend as some will head to the Nittany Lion Invitational, while others will stay at home to host the 4th annual Bison Open on Saturday, January 27, at 9:00 a.m.
