Volleyball Loses Close Game To Friars

COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Providence 3, BUCKNELL 0
Buffalo, N.Y. --- The Bucknell women's volleyball team, in its second game at the University at Buffalo Invitational, lost to Providence 3-0. Leading the Friars to victory was Sarah Katinger with 15 kills on 29 attempts for a .448 attack percentage.
The Bison played the first two games tight with the Friars, losing 15-11 and 15-13. In the deciding third game of the match, Providence closed the deal with a decisive 15-6 victory. With the win, Providence improved their record to 2-0 on the season. The Orange and Blue were led by their junior setter, Whitney Williams (LaJolla, Calif./LaJolla), who finished the three game set with 20 set assists and 4 defensive digs.
Coach Opalski had this to say about the game, "We need to learn from tough competition and improve each time we step on the court. They were very tough servers and were able to break down our serve receive early. That was definitely the difference in the match."
The Herd, after dropping their first two games of the season (0-2), will seek retribution later this afternoon against Canisius in their final game at the Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
