Bucknell Men's Tennis Competes at Patriot League Flighted Championships

Bethlehem, Pa. --- Bucknell's men's tennis team competed in the Patriot League Flighted Championships over the weekend at Lehigh University.
The Bison had four individuals advance past the first-round of competition during the tournament. Senior Aaron Webster (Houston, Texas/Bishop Miege), competing in the First single's flight, defeated Colgate's Owen Fileti, 7-6 (4), 6-4. Webster however would fall in the semifinal round to a competitor from Navy. Also having a solid tournament for the Orange and Blue was sophomore Todd Jacobs (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) who advanced to the semifinal round after beating Lehigh's Gary Drozdowski 6-3, 6-3 in the third singles flight.
Senior Hayes Hopple (Wilton, Conn./St. George's School) and junior Justin Quandt (Alamo, Calif./Int. School of Brussels) both won their first-round contests but also lost in the semifinals in the fourth and sixth singles flights, respectively.
Two individuals on the team found redemption at the tournament after having lost their first-round matches. After losing his first-round match in the second singles flight, junior Alex Davydov (Middlebury, Vt./Middlebury) redeemed himself by defeating Lehigh's Kenny Leung in the consolation bracket, 6-2, 6-3. Also finding victory in the consolation bracket for the Bison was junior Scott Allen (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga). Allen defeated a competitor from Lafayette, 6-0, 6-1 in the consolation bracket of the fourth singles flight.
In doubles action, the combinations of Davydov/Quandt and Webster/Scarborough brought home first-round victories for the Herd but were able to get no farther, suffering defeat in the semifinal round of the second and third double's flights.
