Easton, Pa. - This evening the Bucknell women's volleyball team dropped its second conference match of the season to Lehigh in three straight sets. Entering the contest 9-1 in the Patriot League, Bucknell was unable to defeat the Mountain Hawks falling in three sets 15-9, 15-9, 16-14. Lehigh is the only Patriot League school to defeat the Orange and Blue in conference play this season.
Leading the Bison offensively were senior Brooke Bader (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) and junior Shannon Walker (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield) with 21 kills each. Bader, along with her 21 kills, scooped up 17 digs in the contest to record Bucknell's only double-double. Junior Whitney Williams (LaJolla, Calif./LaJolla) had another solid night with 51 set assists while freshman Brandi Trapasso (N. Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) anchored the back line with 24 defensive digs.
The volleyball team will have to wait until its final regular season contest versus Colgate on November 11 in Lewisburg, Pa. to find out if it is the regular season champion. The Orange and Blue currently maintain a 9-2 league record while the Red Raiders are only one game behind at 8-3. The match will be played in Davis Gymnasium and may determine which school hosts the Patriot League Volleyball Tournament.
