LEWISBURG, PA - Three Bucknell University football players were honored Tuesday afternoon at the Lewisburg Touchdown Club Luncheon. The player of the game honors for the Towson contest were selected by the Bucknell coaching staff and publicly announced at the weekly affair.
Sophomore fullback Todd Warmington (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) was named the Offensive-Player-of-the-Game following Bucknell's 15-13 loss to the Tigers. Warmington carried the ball four times for 23 yards and was doing an outstanding job opening holes with his lead blocking until he was slowed with a dislocated shoulder.
Senior strong safety Justin Lustig (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was named the Defensive-Player-of-the-Game. Lustig led a stingy Bison defense with a pair of interceptions, three pass breakups, and three tackles. He ranks second on the team and in the league with six interceptions this season, and now has nine in his career.
Senior free safety Kevin Eiben (Delta, British Columbia/Vancouver College) was chosen as the Special Teams-Player-of-the-Game, and picked up his third honor overall this year after receiving defensive kudos twice earlier in the season. Eiben returned seven punts for 126 yards against the Tigers, setting a new Patriot League single-game mark. In addition, the 126 yards gave him 345 for the season which set a new Bucknell season-standard. Eiben pushed his career mark to 605 yards.
Bucknell, now 6-4 and 2-3 in the Patriot League, will close out the 2000 season with a home contest against Colgate on Saturday. Kickoff at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium is set for 12:30 p.m.
