LEWISBURG, Pa. --- Bucknell University's department of athletics and recreation, with the assistance of the Denenburg Family Foundation and the Alumni Foundation, unveiled its new Bison mascot costume on Homecoming Weekend.
The brand new Bison costume replaced an outfit that had been worn for over 10 years, and was purchased from the Olympus Flag & Banner company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Olympus has produced mascots for Wisconsin, Florida, Alabama, Cal-State and all the characters for McDonalds restaurants.
The new Bison outfit is comfortable, durable, machine washable and includes a vacuum formed head made of light-weight plastic.
"Our Bison was in dire need of an overhaul, and thanks in a large part to the generosity of the Denenberg Family Foundation and the Alumni Association we were able to acquire a mascot outfit from one of the more well-known and respected manufacturers in the business," said John Hardt, Bucknell's Director of Athletics & Recreation.
The new Bison will show his school spirit at most athletic events and will also appear at other social activities on and around campus.
