LEWISBURG, PA - Bryan Goodman, a 1996 graduate of Barat College and an assistant coach at Susquehanna University since 1998, has been named as an assistant men's basketball coach at Bucknell University.
Goodman succeeds Terry Conrad, who left Bucknell to become the head coach at Lycoming College. "We're extremely happy to have Bryan Goodman as a member of our coaching staff," commented head coach Pat Flannery. "He was a natural selection in that he knows our players and has a great knowledge of our system. His background and enthusiasm will be a big asset to our program, and our squad is looking forward to having Bryan with us."
At Bucknell Goodman will work a lot with the offense and player development, and will assist with university relations by working closely with other contacts on campus. "The way our staff is set up, everyone has their hands involved in a lot of different areas. I think Bryan will fit right in with that philosophy," stated Flannery.
Goodman comes to Bucknell following two seasons as an assistant at Susquehanna University, where his responsibilities included recruiting, scouting, floor and game coaching and organizing the team's tape exchange. In addition to his responsibilities with the varsity program, Goodman served as the head coach of the junior varsity team last year.
Prior to his stint with the Crusaders, Goodman served as an assistant on the staff at his alma mater, Barat, for two years. While at the Lake Forest, Illinois, institution he was involved in recruiting, scouting, game day coaching, organizing and directing practice, monitoring academic achievement and overseeing equipment purchases and travel. In addition, Goodman has served as a camp instructor for the Bucknell summer basketball camp since 1997.
Goodman, a native of Choctaw, Oklahoma, lettered four times as a point guard and led the team in assists and steals. He served as the team's captain as both a junior and senior, and was an Academic All-American selection in 1996.
Bucknell officially opens the 2000-01 season on November 18 when it hosts Lock Haven in Davis Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
