Men's Cross Country Sweeps Lock Haven Invitational

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Bucknell University men's and
women's cross country teams split their squads and competed at
both Lock Haven and Susquehanna earlier today. The team continued
what has been so far a successful season by winning both races
at Lock Haven. The men's team finished with 21 points, well ahead
of runner up Shippensburg (84), while the women's team nearly
swept the event with 17 points.
Senior Kevin Weatherill (Swedesboro, N.J./The Peddie School) finished
as the men's top runner for Bucknell, crossing the line in second
place with a 10,000-meter time of 31:32.48. Classmate Brad Wertz
(Altoona, Pa./Bellwood-Antis), sophomore Greg Costello (Pittsburgh,
Pa./Mount Lebanon) and junior Evan Honeyfield (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro)
were right behind in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively
with times of 31:56.48, 31:59.23 and 32:08.23. The Bison placed
seven in the top-10 and 13 in the top-20 to dominate the race.
Junior co-captain Becki Marshall (Montgomery, N.Y./Pine Bush Central)
captured the women's race with a 6,000-meter time of 21:30.72.
Theresa Dennis (Wilkes Barre, Pa./Hanover Area) and Andrea Beisser
(Ames, Iowa/Ames) finished second and third, respectively, with
times of 21:55.65 and 21:57.96. The Bucknell women placed five
runners among the top-10 and seven among the top-20.
