California Trip Off To A Rocky Start

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The Bucknell men's water polo team dropped three games at the Claremont Convergence Tournament on Friday, October 13, to fall to 12-15 on the season.
The Bison opened the tournament with a 10-9 overtime loss to the University of California-Santa Cruz, ranked fourth in the latest Division III poll. Senior Tate Greditzer (St. Louis, Mo./John Burroughs), sophomore Chris Saxton (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and freshman Jamie Saettele (St. Louis, Mo./Ladue Horton Watkins) led the way with two goals a piece. Saxton, along with senior co-captain Kevin Permisohn (Silver Springs, Md./Springbrook), had a team-high two assists. Senior James Miante (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) had a game defensively, recording six steals for the Orange and Blue.
The Bison took a break from tournament competition to play a single game against California Baptist, falling 15-10. Four players had two goals each with Greditzer, Permisohn, junior Ryan McCarty (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day School), and sophomore Daniel Lonnerdal (Davis, Calif./Davis) each contributing a pair of scores. Permisohn, Miante and junior goalkeeper David Kennedy (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Country Day School) all had two assists in the contest.
In its second tournament game of the day, Bucknell fell to the University of California, Santa Clara, 11-7. The team got three goals from Saettele and six steals from Permisohn, but it wasn't enough for the victory.
Bucknell falls to 12-15 overall and returns to action in the
Claremont Convergence Tournament with a 1:30 p.m. (Eastern Time)
game against the University of Redlands, the number two team in
Division III. The Bison close out the weekend with a 9:00 p.m.
game against the host team, Claremont.
