Tim Pavlechko, a 1991 Bucknell graduate, is in his 27th year as a member of the Bison athletics staff, and after 10 years as Senior Associate Director of Athletics was promoted to the newly-created position of Deputy Director of Athletics in August 2011. Pavlechko is currently serving as Interim Vice President for Athletics & Recreation.Â
A former Bison student-athlete and graduate assistant coach, Pavlechko returned to Bucknell from the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, where he served as an assistant director of championships since 1997. At Bucknell, Pavlechko serves as the chief aide to the vice president for athletics and recreation in the management and leadership of the department with day-to-day oversight responsibilities of internal and external operations and strategic business advancement of the athletics and recreation department.Â
Pavlechko supervises several sports, including football and men’s basketball, at Bucknell. In addition, Pavlechko oversees the areas of facilities/game management, athletic training/sports medicine, strength, student-athlete performance and various auxiliary services. He has had primary oversight of Bucknell’s recent athletics facilities boom, including the construction of the Kenneth G. Langone Athletics and Recreation Center, the Graham Building, the multi-phase West Fields project, which includes Holmes Stadium, Graham Field, Emmitt Field, Depew Field, and Becker Field, and the newest construction projects at the Pascucci Family Athletics Complex at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. In addition, he has served on a Middle States Accreditation working group and continues to be an active participant on multiple University-wide academic and student-life committees.
From 2006-2010, Pavlechko was a member of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee, and served the membership in the leadership position of committee chair for three years. He represents Bucknell in the Patriot League governance structure as a member of the Sports Management Committee and has serves a liaison to both the men’s lacrosse and baseball coaches.
During his days at the NCAA office, he worked with individual coaches and administrators, NCAA leadership, national sport governing bodies, coaching organizations, sport committees, local communities and major sporting venues on various NCAA Championships. Pavlechko was responsible for the administration, conduct and corporate partner relations of seven national championships, including Division I wrestling and men’s lacrosse, which annually ranked among the top-five revenue-producing championships within the association. In his role as sport leader, Pavlechko was a member of the American Football Coaches Association, US Lacrosse and served as a Board Member for USA Wrestling.
Prior to his tenure at the NCAA, Pavlechko spent five years working in the athletic department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. After spending the 1993-94 year as an external affairs intern with the department, he became a game operations representative. In 1995 he was promoted to coordinator of game operations and athletic facilities, overseeing event operations for 15 sports while managing seven athletic facilities. In addition to his role managing the Runnin’ Rebels athletics events and facilities, Pavlechko also served as coordinator of operations for the Las Vegas Bowl during this same period.
A native of Boalsburg, Pa., Pavlechko graduated from Bucknell with a bachelor of science degree in business administration, and he went on to earn a master of science degree in business administration from Bucknell in 1993. Pavlechko played center and guard on the Bison offensive line from 1987-90, and after graduation, he remained with the program as a graduate assistant for two years coaching the defensive ends and long snappers.
Pavlechko resides in Lewisburg and has two daughters, Ella and Lauren.
