- Assistant Coach
Eric Ragan joined the Bucknell volleyball staff for the 2014 season, and began his work with the program in the spring of 2014.
“We are very excited to have Eric join our staff,” said Allison, who just finished her first season as head coach of the Bison. “He has a great eye for the game, and his skills will add tremendously to our game analysis and strategic planning while also helping us with our defensive systems and daily operations. We are happy to welcome him to our volleyball family."
Ragan most recently served as the volunteer assistant coach at Loyola University in Chicago, Ill., for the 2013 season, and prior to that he spent one year in the same role at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. He was responsible for all aspects of program development while with both teams, and assisted with recruiting, scouting, practice planning, practice execution and match strategy. While with the Ramblers, he also facilitated in-match statistical analysis and was responsible for many of the team’s logistical operations, including travel.
In addition to his strong background at the college level, Ragan has spent the past five years working with youth players in both volleyball and basketball. He began work as a coach and camp director for the 1st Alliance Volleyball Club in January of 2013, serving as the head coach of five youth volleyball teams and planning community clinics in partnership with local high schools, and also served as a coach and directory of player development with the Lander Volleyball Club for the 2010-11 season. Ragan has also fulfilled the role of director of player development for Championship Basketball, designing team and individual training programs for 5-18 year olds and also coordinating basketball camps for players in that age group.
“I would like to thank Anna, Niece and the Bucknell athletic department for the opportunity to become a part of the Bison family,” commented Ragan. “I'm beyond ecstatic to start working with our outstanding student-athletes, and I hope to help them continue to improve every day. It's an exciting time for Bucknell volleyball."
Ragan graduated from Grinnell College with a Bachelor of Arts in History in May of 2012, and is certified to teach World and American History at the secondary school level.
