Skylar Spitz-Roden joined the Bucknell Sports Medicine staff as an athletic trainer in 2022. She currently serves as the primary athletic trainer for the men’s basketball and men’s and women’s golf teams.
Spitz-Roden returned to Bucknell after working with the Bison football and baseball teams as a part of an externship during the 2018-19 season.
Prior to her arrival at Bucknell, Spitz-Roden graduated with a master of science degree in athletic training at Shenandoah University. She then worked as an intern athletic trainer with the UNLV football program from July 2019 until January 2020. She went on to be an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Tennessee at Martin from January 2020 until August 2022. There she worked primarily with women’s soccer, men’s basketball, and baseball, along with helping with coverage of all other sports.
Serving as head men's basketball athletic trainer at Bucknell, Spitz-Roden plays a vital role in injury and illness prevention and wellness promotion. She schedules and oversees daily audits that are a tool used for recovery, pre-hab services, and therapeutic intervention. She is responsible for coordinating appointments with team physicians. In addition, Spitz-Roden is the faculty advisor for Bucknell’s Morgan’s Message chapter, a student affinity group that promotes mental health awareness among student-athletes.
Spitz-Roden currently holds certifications in SMFA Level 1, Smart Cuffs Blood Flow Restriction Level 1, and Graston Technique Provider.
Spitz-Roden and her husband Brian currently reside in Lewisburg.
