Bucknell Spiked Shoe Community,
I am graciously writing this letter as a senior student-athlete representative of Bucknell University and the Patriot League. Looking back on my experiences over the past four years, I am reminded of amazing memories, personal growth, and a rigorous academic and athletic experience that is truly second to none.
I am in my senior year, majoring in electrical engineering. I can truly say that Bucknell was the perfect choice for me academically, as I have had the opportunity to study at one of the top engineering programs in the country. I have learned skills and gained experience that will stick with me for the entirety of my professional career, and for that I am grateful.
Alongside my studies in one of the nation's top undergraduate engineering programs, I have the privilege of competing at the highest level of college athletics at Bucknell, where I serve as a co-captain of the men’s track and field team. Through track and field, I have learned discipline, grown my work ethic, and learned to better myself in pursuit of the highest level of success for the team. The leadership skills that I have learned, as well as the life-long friendships that I have made, have truly given me an outstanding college experience.
The sport of track and field is very individual by nature, however, the culture of the team is far from it. Every time I step into the throwing ring, I feel confident knowing that there is a sea of Orange and Blue backing me up and pushing me to be the best athlete that I can be. Our group is always there for each other and as a result, it brings us together and raises us to a level that would be unattainable otherwise. Without the support of each other, we would not be the athletes or people that we are today.
In addition to being grateful for the support of our teammates, we are also grateful for the support of you, our alumni, parents, and friends, who have been extremely generous and supportive of this program. Without your support, we would not be able to build team chemistry or foster the team culture as we do during travel meets. Without your support, we would not have access to the critical equipment needed to better ourselves. Without your support, we do not get to battle for a Patriot League Championship to the highest level that we can, and for that we are extremely grateful.
On behalf of my coaches, my teammates, and the Bucknell athletics community as a whole, thank you for everything that you have done. Without your support, I truly believe that I would be a fraction of the person that I have become. All the support that you give has a profound impact on all of us here at Bucknell. Your generosity truly means the world to us.
Forever a Bison,
