Dear Bucknell Softball Community,
Â
Being a college athlete was a dream many young athletes had growing up. To me, I thought it was going to be nothing more than that - a dream. Not only did Bucknell make my dream a reality by giving me the opportunity to play the sport I love for four more years, but it also gave me a chance to receive an amazing education and be surrounded by a community that provides unwavering support.
Â
Being from Colorado, I am often asked what brought me all this way to Bucknell, and well, my answer is simple. My parents always encouraged me to prioritize education, not let geography limit me, and to find a softball program that valued me as a person, not just a player. That is exactly what I did. I found all those things at Bucknell, which made my decision to come here easy. The transition to college can be difficult, but it was less daunting because I had a university and a team that welcomed me with open arms and support.
Â
My time at Bucknell has been nothing short of amazing. For three years I have experienced faculty and staff who want to see their students succeed, an athletic department that truly cares about the holistic well-being of its student-athletes, and teammates who support each other through challenging times and share in celebrating the exciting times.
Â
During my sophomore year, I faced some struggles both personally and athletically. It was very easy for me to internalize everything and shut down. I was quickly reminded that I was surrounded by teammates who love and support me in every aspect of my life and have my back when I fall short. Although challenges inevitably occur in sports and life, it was comforting to know that I was not alone and had a team to lean on when things got hard.Â
Â
The Bucknell community has directly impacted every member of the softball program and what we are able to accomplish. Many of our positive, rewarding, and growth experiences would not be possible without the support of that community. With another year of Bison Athletics in full swing, I am honored to share my experience with our loyal alumni, families, and friends. Because of your support, me and my teammates can be equipped with everything necessary to compete at a high level and positively represent all former and current Bucknell student-athletes.
Â
I have been extremely fortunate to call Bucknell home for the last three years. As I look forward to what is to come, I can’t help but reflect on the great experiences, relationships, and opportunities that Bucknell has provided me. Bucknell has allowed me to grow in the classroom, as a softball player, and as a confident individual who trusts her judgments and abilities.
Â
On behalf of my coach, teammates, and Bucknell Athletics, I want to thank you for your continued support. Without you, my experiences, as well as the experiences of other Bucknell student-athletes, would not be possible.
Â
Go Bison!
