Dear Bucknell Spiked Shoe Community,

Being a collegiate athlete holds a special place in the lives of those who pursue this path. It represents a harmonious convergence of passion and discipline, allowing individuals to immerse themselves in the sport they love while pursuing higher education. I became one of those individuals when I chose to represent the Bucknell women’s cross country and track and field teams. Not only is Bucknell a prestigious academic institution, but it provides student-athletes like me with unique experiences, support, and memories that will last a lifetime. Having the opportunity to represent the Bison every day is both a privilege and an honor.

As I enter my senior year here at Bucknell, I can reflect on the incredible journey I've undertaken since first stepping onto this campus as a 17-year-old girl. It's often said that when you find the college that really suits you, you'll have a profound sense of certainty, and looking back, I can confidently say that Bucknell is the place for me. The experiences, both on and off the course/track, have been truly transformative. I've grown not only as an athlete but as a student and an individual. Being a member of the cross country and track and field teams has provided me with a supportive family making this place truly feel like home.

I was fortunate enough to be named co-captain this year. This role has shown me the importance of teamwork and the impact a positive environment has on success. It's not just about leading by example on the course/track but also about fostering a sense of unity and motivation within the team. The atmosphere of this team allows everyone to feel valued and inspired to give their best effort, something that has enriched my own collegiate journey.

My teammates and coaches have shown me what it is like to be on a team filled with those who are motivated and passionate about not only their sport but their academics as well. I am honored to be a part of a team that provides unconditional love and support, regardless of the challenges we face. Being a part of the program has shown me what it's like to be surrounded by a positive community, where growth, camaraderie, and excellence thrive.

With another year of Bison Athletics in full swing, I am honored to share my experience with our loyal alumni, families, and friends. My remarkable experiences at Bucknell have been made possible through the generosity and support of our Spike Shoe Club donors. Your support, no matter the amount, plays a pivotal role in ensuring that my teammates and I have all the essential resources that allow us to compete at the highest level.

If not for this opportunity to run competitively for the Bison, I cannot imagine where I would be today. On behalf of my coaches, teammates, and Bucknell Athletics, I would like to thank you for your support because none of this would be possible without you.
