LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's soccer to fell to No. 23 Cornell, 6-1, on Tuesday night at Emmitt Field.
Bucknell (6-7-1) found the opening goal through Jack Lucas 10 minutes into the match, but Cornell answered with two first-half goals to take a lead into the break.
Lucas' third goal of the season came off of a second chance ball on a corner kick. Cornell got a head to the ball twice before it trickled to Lucas at the edge of the box. Lucas smashed his half-volleyed effort into the roof of the goal for a 1-0 lead.
Bucknell nearly scored a second just moment later through Drew Roskos, but the goal was waved off for a touchy foul on the goalkeeper.
Cornell leveled the score in the 29th minute through Connor Miller. After a cross got all the way through to the back post, Blake Donahue's effort from close range was blocked by Hamish Riddell, but Miller calmly placed the second effort into the top left corner.
The Big Red then took the lead less than 10 minutes later on a penalty kick. Chayse Snyder was just late to the challenge to set up the penalty, and Lennon Harrington buried the chance for the 2-1 lead.
Cornell had a hot start right out of the half with two goals in the first five minutes as Kasper Wollstein scored both goals. Andrew Miles and Aidan Martin tacked on two more goals in the final 20 minutes of the half.
Bucknell returns to action on the road at Army on Sunday for a 4 p.m. kickoff at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
