Byrne Selected as Bison of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior women's swimmer Kelly Byrne was named this week's Bison of the Week after posting three wins in individual events against Lehigh in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon. Byrne scored 27 points as the Bison handled Lehigh 188-112.
Byrne started the day winning the 1,000 freestyle. She swam a time of 10:39.27 to win the event by over 11 seconds. The Bison took three of the top-four spots in the event.
Her next win came in the 200 breaststroke, where she won with a time of 1:20.67 as the Bison took the top-three spots in the event. Her final win of the day came in the 200 IM, swimming a winning time of 2:07.90.
Byrne now has eight wins this year for the Bison. She has multiple wins in the 500 freestyle and the 200 breaststroke. She also won events in the 400 IM and the 200 backstroke earlier this season.
The junior currently owns three top-10 times in program history. She ranks third in the 400 IM, and she set that mark this season with a time of 4:17.67 at the BU Invite. She also set another top-10 mark this season against Army, swimming a time of 10:16.59 in the 1,000 freestyle.
Byrne also owns the fifth-fastest time in the 200 breaststroke, swimming a time of 2:16.02 at last year's ECAC Championships.
Bucknell is back in action on Saturday for the Navy Invitational at 1 p.m. The Bison are 7-2 in dual meets and 6-2 against Patriot League opponents. The Patriot League Championships take place on February 18-21 at Navy.
