Sidney Shaffer Awarded Bison of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Junior middle blocker Sidney Shaffer played a pivotal role in Bucknell volleyball 2-0 weekend against Lehigh and Lafayette and received Bison of the Week in recognition of her efforts. The honor marks the second time Shaffer earned the laurel.
Shaffer blew apart the opposing defenses collecting 27 kills on 55 total attacks for a .473 hitting percentage. She added five blocks and ten digs on the defensive side.
Lafayette had no answer for the middle blocker, as she collected a game-high 18 kills on 29 attempts for a sparkling .621 hitting percentage. More impressively, Shaffer did not commit a single attack error. Her play keyed Bucknell to the four-set victory over the Leopards.
Against Lehigh, her nine kills and four blocks assisted in Bucknell starting the conference campaign at 1-0. The Bison fell in the first set but powered by Shaffer's presence won the next three sets.
Bucknell started 2-0 in Patriot League action for the second consecutive season.
The Bison hit the road for Holy Cross (Sept. 26) and Colgate (Sept. 27) this weekend.
