"Representing Honduras in the throws is something I'll never take for granted," said Negrete. "It's not just about competition, it's about carrying my family's story and the pride of where we come from into every throw. When I step into the circle, I feel the unwavering support from my family and everyone back home who believes in me. Every throw is a little piece of our journey, and I get to honor that while wearing the colors of Honduras."
Negrete has a rich history of competing for Honduras. She won gold in the U20 women's shot put at the 2023 U18 and U20 Central American Games where her mark established the U20 record. The thrower also won bronze in the discus and hammer.
Negrete enjoyed a successful 2024-25 campaign, moving into sixth all-time in the Bucknell record book for the weight throw when she tossed 56-5.75 at the 26th Annual Bison Open and Multi. She also set personal records in the discus throw (137-8) and the hammer throw (162-7) at the 2025 Patriot League Outdoor Championships.
Representing Honduras is a family affair. Her brother Miguel Negrete, a Bucknell Class of 2024 graduate, won bronze in the decathlon at the Central American Championships.
Both Negrete siblings represent Honduras via their maternal grandparents' heritage.
