2025 Football Team Captains Announced

Lewisburg, Pa. - Bucknell head football coach Dave Cecchini announced the four 2025 football team captains on Friday night during the Spring Game.
The captains named as a result of a team vote are; offensive lineman John Ohnegian, quarterback Ralph Rucker IV, placekicker and punter Matt Schearer, and defensive back Terian Williams II.Â
Ohnegian will return as a captain for a second consecutive year as a senior on the offensive line. He becomes just the 13th multi-year captain in program history. Last season, Ohnegian earned Patriot League Scholar Athlete of the Year, All-Patriot League Second Team and Academic All-Patriot League. The Ramsey, N.J. native was named Bucknell's Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year his freshman season and has been a starter on the offensive line ever since. Ohnegian has been named the John Campana Award recipient as Bucknell's outstanding offensive lineman both his sophomore and junior years.Â
Quarterback Ralph Rucker IV has been a starter for the Bison since he transferred in for his sophomore year and has chosen to return for a fifth year in 2025. Rucker earned 2024 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, 2024 All-Patriot League First Team, was a 2024 Walter Payton Award Finalist and earned the 2024 Bison Gridiron Club Award: Most Valuable Player. The Lucas, TX native is also Bucknell's all-time leader in passing touchdowns (46), single-season record holder for passing yards (2,826), completions (244), completion percentage (.672), total offense (2,922) and passing touchdowns (25) and is Bucknell's single-game record holder for passing yards (457). Rucker also holds second all-time with 5,363 passing yards total. Â
Matt Schearer is a senior punter/kicker for the Bison. The Canonsburg, Pa. native has seen action each year with the Bison, including being the primary kicker his sophomore season and additionally, the primary punter and placekicker his junior year. Last season, Schearer was named to the 2024 All-Patriot League Second Team. Last season he also went 45-for-46 on extra points which set a Bucknell record, and his 63 points were tied for the third-most by a kicker in team history. Schearer made his final 33 PAT attempts of the 2024 season, which was two shy of the school record for consecutive conversions in a season. Â
Terian Williams II is a senior cornerback for Bucknell. Williams transferred to the Bison from Stanford last season and played in all 12 games at cornerback. The Atlanta, Ga. native was sixth on the roster with 56 (28 solo) tackles, recorded an interception, four pass breakups, a forced fumble, a sack and three tackles for a loss throughout the 2024 season.
