Bucknell Varsity Four Selected as Patriot League Boat of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell Varsity Four earned bronze medals at the Knecht Cup over the weekend, and on Monday the crew was selected as the Patriot League Boat of the Week. It was a strong weekend for the Bison, as all four of their entries – two eights and two fours – reached Grand Finals and finished in the top five. The Varsity Four and Second Varsity Eight both finished third against a large field over two days of racing.
The Varsity Four was led by coxswain Caroline Wieland and powered by Kona Glenn, Maeve O'Keefe, Clara Eikeboom, and Campbell Coonley. Bucknell took home third-place medals in a closely contested Grand Final. The Bison finished in 7:49.27, which was 3.9 seconds behind Lafayette and only about one seat behind runner-up Drexel. Mercyhurst, Boston University, and Jacksonville claimed the 4-5-6 spots.
On Saturday, the Bison 1V4+ was runner-up to Jacksonville in its morning heat and second to Mercyhurst in the semifinal round. Bucknell bested Villanova, Canisius, Stetson, and Scranton in the first heat, and Georgetown, Fordham, MIT, and Duquesne in the semis.
Next up for the Bison is the Ford Lake Cup, hosted by Eastern Michigan on Ford Lake in Ypsilanti.
